Pixel Defect & Diagnostic Guide
Dead Pixel

Unpowered subpixels that remain completely dark/black across lighter color backgrounds.

Stuck Pixel

Subpixels with transistors stuck open; shines red, green, or blue. Can often be revived via the Stuck Pixel Fixer.

Hot Pixel

All subpixels permanently powered at maximum capacity; glows bright white even on a pure black background.

How to Test Your Screen and Monitor?

1
Step 1

In the Dead Pixel tab, click 'Launch Fullscreen Test'.

2
Step 2

Inspect solid black, white, red, green, and blue screens for dark unpowered spots or miscolored pixels.

3
Step 3

In the UFO Ghosting tab, follow moving lines to evaluate panel response time and real-time Hz.

4
Step 4

If you spot a stuck single-color pixel, place the noise box from Stuck Pixel Fixer over it.

Monitor & Pixel Test FAQ

What is the difference between a dead pixel and a stuck pixel?

A dead pixel is completely unpowered (usually black) and cannot be fixed. A stuck pixel is locked on one subpixel color (red, green, or blue) and can often be massaged back into operation.

What does the ghosting test measure?

Ghosting occurs when pixel transition times lag behind the display refresh rate, leaving trails behind moving objects. Fast response panels (1ms) and higher refresh rates minimize this artifact.
