How to Calculate IP Subnet & CIDR?

1
Step 1

Enter your target IPv4 address (e.g. 192.168.1.50).

2
Step 2

Adjust the CIDR prefix slider (/24, /16, /8 etc.) or click one of the quick presets.

3
Step 3

Review Network ID, Broadcast, Subnet Mask, Wildcard, and Usable Host Range in real time.

4
Step 4

Click 'Copy Report' to export full network specifications to your clipboard.

Subnet & IP Calculation FAQ

Why is subnetting used?

Subnetting divides a larger network into smaller, isolated, and manageable broadcast domains, reducing network congestion and conserving IP address space.

Why are 2 addresses subtracted from the total host count?

The first address in any subnet is reserved as the Network ID, and the last address is reserved as the Broadcast Address; neither can be assigned to individual devices.
